Houston Plays Host to Annual UH/RunSport All-Comers Meet

The University of Houston hosted the annual UH/RunSport All-Comers Meet in its fifth-straight indoor meet of the 2003 season on Saturday (Feb. 15) at the Yeoman Field House.

With the competition field wide open and the meet not scored, participants ranged from colleges and universities to local high school teams to independent track clubs.

Top finishers for the Cougars, who had half the team in New York to compete in the two-day Armory Collegiate Invitational over the weekend, included Ashley George in the women's long jump, Shay Coles in the women's 200-meter dash and Daniel Patton and Kevin Watson in the men's pole vault.

George, competing in the event for the first time this season, was Houston's top female finisher on the field, placing third in ther long jump with jump of 5.83 meters, while Coles, also running in the event for the first time this season, finished in fifth place in the 200-meter with a time of 25.41 seconds.

Patton and Watson both tied for second in the pole vault in clearing 4.90 meters, a personal best for Watson. Houston finished in the top five in seven events overall, four of which were in the field.

Following a bye week next weekend, the Cougars host the annual Conference USA Indoor Championships on February 28-March 1 at the Yeoman Field House.
