Bray Named to 2008 C-USA All-Academic Track and Field Team

IRVING, Texas - Sophomore Wesley Bray was named to the Conference USA Track and Field All-Academic Team on Thursday, as announced by the conference office. Bray is a member of the UH Honors College, holding a cumulative GPA of 3.26 as a biomedical technology major. He has been named to the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll from 2006-2008. Bray also has served as a key component to the success of the Cougar track and field program. He won silver in the heptathlon at the 2008 C-USA Indoor Championships, finishing with a personal best of 5,298 points. His decathlon total of 7,251 points leads the conference, ranks fifth the Midwest Region and 17th in the nation this year. This marks the second-consecutive year that the Cougars have been represented on the C-USA All-Academic Team, as Paul Goodwin and Lucas Mireles both were honored on last season's inaugural team. Nominees had to possess a GPA of 3.2 or better and have participated in more than 75 percent of the team's meets to be considered. Six men and six women were selected for each team. Joining Bray on the men's team were Steffen Nerdal of Memphis, Brett Olson of Rice and Mickael Hanany, Patrick Mutai and Japheth Ng'ojoy of UTEP. Named to the women's team were Sivan Aballi of Memphis, Marissa Daniels and Sarah Lyons of Rice, Andrea Kvetova of SMU, Kristen Zieminski of UCF and Keisha Walkes of UTEP. Bray and his Cougar teammates will continue competition at the 2008 C-USA Outdoor Championships on May 15-17 in El Paso.
