Women's Soccer Preps For Mexican U20 National Team Sunday

HOUSTON - The University of Houston women's soccer team is set to take on the Mexican U20 National Team, Sunday at 4 p.m. CST on John O'Quinn Field at Robertson Stadium. The Cougars are playing Mexico as part of their 2008 spring season. It is the first time the UH squad has taken on an international side in exhibition play. Sixteen-year-old Charlyn Corral highlights Mexico's talented roster. Corral was the top scorer with eight goals at the last CONCACAF qualifiers for the FIFA U20 Women's World Championship in Russia in 2006. Mexico is making a two-game swing through Texas this weekend. They play Texas A&M Saturday at 11 a.m. in College Station. Tickets for the match are priced at $12 for adults, $10 for UH students and children and $8 for groups of 15 or more. Rodriguez earned her first two caps with the Puerto Rican National Team over Thanksgiving and Scott spent part of last spring training with the Israeli National Team.
Christine Nieva (Mesquite, Texas/North Mesquite HS/Arizona State) will be unavailable for the match as she is participating in training camp with the Mexican U-23 National Team leading up to the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.
